- Honored at the 2025 Red Dot Design Awards with two wins, a first for a Korean refiner
- Earned distinction for Energy Plus app’s outstanding design and ease of use
- Recognized for continuing efforts to enhance customer experience via digital mobility services

GS Caltex (CEO Saehong Hur) announced on August 4 that its Energy Plus mobile app was named a winner in two categories at the 2025 Red Dot Design Awards. This marks the first time a oil refining company has received two distinctions in a single year at the prestigious event.
Red Dot Design Award is widely recognized as one of the world’s top three design awards, alongside the IDEA Award in the United States and the iF Design Award in Germany. It selects winners annually across three categories: Product Design, Brands & Communication Design, and Design Concept.
GS Caltex’s Energy Plus app received the Red Dot Awards in both Apps and Interface & User Experience Design of the Brands & Communication Design competition. Brands & Communication Design’s entries are evaluated on creativity, innovation, technical and aesthetic quality, and the emotional impact.
The achievement highlights the global competitiveness of Energy Plus app’s innovative design and will further strengthen consumer trust in the GS Caltex brand.

GS Caltex launched the Energy Plus app in 2021 to make fueling more convenient for drivers and has since introduced a range of innovative experiences and benefits. One standout feature is Quick Refuel, which allows users to pre-register their preferred fuel type, amount, and payment method — then simply scan a barcode or enter a PIN at the pump to complete the transaction in a single step.
In 2025, GS Caltex introduced with CarPlay and Android Auto integration, becoming the first Korean refiner to offer in-vehicle access to fueling services. Drivers can now use key Energy Plus functions — such as station locator, Quick Refuel, and access to coupons and point balances — directly on their car’s touchscreen. The company also released Shake & Pay, a shortcut that lets users start Quick Refuel with a simple shake of their phone, and updated the home screen widget to allow users to launch Quick Refuel, view favorite stations, and compare fuel prices without opening the app.
Amid these developments, GS Caltex was ranked No.1 in the gas station category of the National Customer Satisfaction Index (NCSI) survey for the 17th consecutive year in July. This followed ongoing efforts to leverage the Energy Plus app to receive user input in real time and respond quickly with tangible benefits.
“We will continue improving our Energy Plus app services so that customers can enjoy greater satisfaction and value through intuitive experiences that bring together design and technology,” said Chang Soo Kim, Executive Vice President of the Mobility & Marketing Division.
